Jody's Biography
Jody Bergsma was born in 1953 and raised in the wilderness of NW Washington. Her father was a bush pilot and her mother, an artist. Jody began painting as a young child with her mother?s encouragement to illustrate her dreams. As she grew, so did her desire to stretch her painting style.
When Jody was 15, she started to attend outdoor art festivals to sell her early originals, which spawned her Dreamkeepers? series. These paintings became very popular later in her career.
In the 70?s, she moved to Canada and studied industrial design. Her exposure to Emiliy Carr?s wilderness impressionism gave her a spark to follow in her own artistic evolution. Jody?s style grew to incorporate the fanciful imagery of her dream world and the natural elements she experienced in her youth. These paintings have now become her Natural Elements? series.
Jody has had a disciplined art career, creating up to sixty paintings a year since 1980. This has created a diverse web of subject matter and content throughout her pieces.
She now travels the globe to research and gather inspiration. Her imagination continues to be her greatest influence.
